SxS, quad track? 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any news on the quad track. I know its been under construction for some time now. Any chance it will be open soon?

We are in the process of making dirt for all the new tracks. We have been making good, clean dirt, for several months now and to make dirt suitable for use on the race tracks it goes through three different rock screening processes. Basically a long, difficult, and slow process, but we work on it every day. We had a nice stockpile of the dirt but a good portion of it was used for maintenance after it rained and we are also using it for the new event race track that is being built. One thing to note is the lower rider count that we see on the amateur track on the days we close the track to bikes and ONLY allow quads to ride and the number of riders that were entered in the Grand Prix race. We would have thought the numbers would have been higher. The greater the demand, the sooner the track could be built.

Thats good. Nice to know that it is still in the works. Until then I will just keep riding the motocross tracks. The amateur track is ok for quads for the moment and I will keep riding that too. I think the reason the quad numbers are down is because the lack of an actual designated track. Pala is not the only place with a quad track, and your competition is stealing away the business. The quads are out there, trust me, and in huge numbers. I bet Pala would be an awesome site for a ITP quadcross event. There is a simple rule of good business that always works.........Build it and they will come. I know you guys have already done that, but unfortunately everyone knows that track didn't turn out the way it was planned too. I am staying positive the new track will be a crowd pleaser.

What date is the quad track going to open??

I purchased a membership based on all the hype that the new quad track is going to be awesome, it's gonna have this, its gonna have that, blah blah blah.

Then When the track did finally show up it was weak, sorry, weak with boulders, nothing as advertised. Now its shutdown to make dirt? More like bulldozed to make another dirt bike track.

Now a year has gone by, it's membership renewal time, Well lets see here, you got 4-5 dirt bike tracks, and 1 dirt bike track that the quads use for a 5 hour block 3 times a week. On top of that the the track isn't even designed for quads, minorly watered and the jumps have no lip to 'em. You gotta admit it's pretty weak for the now 25 bucks.

So why charge the same membership price for quads and bikes?
I think the quad and SXS "minority" have been patient enough on waiting for you guys to make dirt. It's time to make something happen.

I did the GPR race, and you could say the quad turn out was low, 20 quads. But how long did you advertise? 4-6 weeks tops. The track layout was mystery. Honestly, to me it was last minute effort to get on board with elsinore and Adelanto GP's. Which have been going on for years. The timing of the event was totally rushed, you gotta spread the word. However, had more SXS's then glamis! That should to justify making the track not just the quad turn out. Judging the quad tracks destiny on one gp race is total bull.

Quads were not on the bill for the spring series, another rip. Get a quad class going then make decision, not just one race.

How about some time on the Vet track or the main track? At least provide us with other options then just one track split between bikes and quads until you done "Making dirt."

I suggest you give us time on the main, vet and amateur tracks. The first .5 hour amateur track, then half hour break, next .5 hour vet track, half hour break, third .5 hour main track, half hour break and repeat. The dirt bike guys will always have a track open and the quad and SXS guys will start getting there monies worth.

Who's with me on this?

Happy 4th!

I also received a renewal membership e-mail. I wont be back, not like they will notice, I stopped going months ago. Don't expect a quad track from these guys, its not going to happen. They had good intentions, but the original track had so many complaints they got sick of hearing it and flattened it out. Not like that was hard to do, it was already mostly flat.

Not only was it flat, but poorly designed in the way of safety. Shortly before it was closed I wrecked horribly. The back straight after the double had no runoff before the corner, just a berm of dirt 2 feet tall. I came into the corner way to hot, got on the brakes too late and was forced off the track. Well with no where to go except over the mound of dirt at an angle. It instantly flipped me forward with the quad landing on my back. My helmet was then forced into my face causing extreme trauma. 5 hours of plastic surgery to put it back together. Also a broken left leg, wrist, and type three AC separation in my right shoulder. Not to mention it broke my Troy Lee helmet. Done for three months. Back on now, but still wont be back to Pala.

I waited patiently for 2 years while they built Pala. I feel disappointed and let down, but nothing good ever comes to quad riders, and to the staff of Pala.....well they have a bad taste in their mouth from us. They did try, but I think were so understaffed they said screw it. Bike riders don't complain, no matter what the track is like. That area where the quad track was is now planned to be a dirt bike racetrack.

Don't renew your membership. You don't need to feel frustrated for throwing away your hard earned money there. I waited patiently and so did many others. Lesson learned. :pinch
